Suggestion: show reserved cards

Post by astrostl »

It's hidden trackable information. Players can re/gain the information by plowing through the game log, so the only apparent function of "hiding" it seems to be the inconveniencing of both players. If someone doesn't for the sake of play speed politeness, an opponent who does is at an advantage.

You can reserve a card blind from the deck. In that case, it shouldn't be visible.

You can look through the replay log to see what your opponent reserved. For some reason, that doesn't work on mobile.

The reserved cards probably should be visible if they were visible when they were reserved.

The rules state:

"You cannot have more than 3 reserved cards. Keep your reserved cards secret from
your opponent (either facedown in front of you, or in your hand).
You may look at your
reserved cards at any time."

That is meaningful in a face to face game during which a person needs excellent memory or a notepad. It is not meaningful in a digital game in which the game log is available to everyone. Functionally, it only rates to slow down the game while hiding nothing.

To keep the spirit of the rules, wouldn't it be best to simply change the log, so that it doesn't show information about the reserved card?

This will grant a large advantage to note-takers. Right now it's balanced, but delays the game.
