This month's challenge features one of my favourite factions. You are to play the Nevlas versus the automa of the month, the Terrans (select the 'Automa of the month' button), on the Random map. Check that the seed in the automa score panel is 17092944. It is important that you read the Rules section for more details, especially if the seed is not 17092944.
Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this challenge is for you. The goal is simple: have fun and get a high score in solo mode. Thanks to the BGA set-up, you can easily compare your score, watch replays of games and learn different ways of playing a faction. (There's more guidance on how to view replays at/near the end of the May 2023 challenge.) Play serenely at your leisure: there is no timer pressure!
Many congratulations to kespie on maintaining a winning streak and to danuer13 for running very, very close to the top score. A big thank you to all who took part.
There's elite rank for the top 5 players and cadet rank for everyone else.
1st step: Create a new table. Select Training or Friendly mode and Random map. Choose 1 player/Solo and click on Start game. Select the red box Automa of the month (Terrans).
2nd step: Select the difficulty you think you can handle.
3rd step: Select the faction Nevlas. Check that the seed is 17092944 (in the player score panel). If it isn't, start again using the alternative starting method (below).
4th step: Play the game. Post your score(s), mentioning the chosen difficulty (see the format below).
Alternative starting method: Start the game with Random map selected >> Choose the Terrans faction card (as you would for a normal game) >> Set the custom seed (17092944 for this challenge), which is next to the heading 'Choose Automa Difficulty Level', and Select the Automa difficulty >> Choose Nevlas.
Players usually insert the link of their game (you can find it on your profile – tab (x) games played) and mention which openings, tech tracks and other actions have been crucial for them (e.g. RL+2M. Economy, aiming for advanced tech tile on AI).
Ideally, use this format: YourNickname Score vs AutomaLevel Score – LinkOfTheGame – Techs focus – YourComment (e.g.: Marcus Aurelius 222 vs Ultoma 165 – www.boardgamearena.com/game=12345 – focus on Science and Terraforming until mid-game, with aim of taking advanced tile on Terraforming).
And don't forget to have fun!

- kespie 236 vs 143 Automachtig - https://boardgamearena.com/1/gaiaprojec ... =485345756 - Ac, Eco4 opening, PI in round3, adv eco tile in round4 and adv qic tile at the end. Quite some points from qic actions.
- CanBeSarcastic 214 vs Automa 114 - https://boardgamearena.com/6/gaiaprojec ... =481906284 - I liked the Academy opening here to get the four cycle, then built PI in round 3 for the bonus. Got the advanced tech (3vp/RL when passing) round 4 (scored 24 points).
- danuer13 207 vs Automa 114 - https://boardgamearena.com/4/gaiaprojec ... =483428162 - Tried with the initial PI + mine opening, got 52 vp from tech tracks and 24 from advanced tech from the eco track
- Taerinshar 198 vs Automa 114 - https://boardgamearena.com/9/gaiaprojec ... =484327517 - I've never tried the Academy opening before, so started with that and used all the charge to sprint up economy and then did a mix of terraforming and navigation to spread out a bit. Grabbed the top of the AI track at the end and all the QIC cubes helped me get the last federation.
- jgpaladin 191 vs Automa 110 - https://boardgamearena.com/11/gaiaproje ... =483187983 - PI on turn 1, got the +4p tech. Maxed research on terraforming, economy, and navigation by the end.
- Jaydash 162 vs Automa 110 - https://boardgamearena.com/6/gaiaprojec ... =481877980 Topped terraforming and nav. almost got QIC too. Three federations.
- GregPL 190 vs Automa 114 - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=482936565 - I went for AC opening this time, followed by gaining advanced tiles from both economy and qic
- meepmeep 183 vs Automa 117 - https://boardgamearena.com/10/gaiaproje ... =482396541
