How do I expel a player from one of my tournaments before it starts?

I recently created a tournament for which a player registered that I did not want in the tournament. It was a private tournament open to players that were members of my group only and thus in my friends list also.

I removed that player from my group and also from my friends list before the tournament opened, but the player was still able to play in it.

Does anyone know how to remove players from a tournament before it opens please?
