Re: negative environment in Hanabi

I think the point above was missed slightly. When you read "?" - whether you find that passive aggressive or not is an assumption of intent on your part. So my suggestion is start with good assumptions that there is no aggression (passive or otherwise) intended. I have very rarely seen a s...

Re: negative environment in Hanabi

I think with the internet it is very easy to read offence where none is intended. If in real life a clue is given that makes no sense, unless you are playing with poker players their facial expression will show that and they will react, likely via a facial expression. In Hanabi the "?" in ...

Updating the wiki with the new Conventions list?

In https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39378 there was discussion about updating the conventions list and that seems to have succeeded as we now see: Unspecified Finesse Layered Finesse Hgroup Other However, the wiki still shows the old conventions: https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Gam...

Re: Why is discard numbers disorganized?

This is configurable in game.

Click on the hamburger menu in game at the top right.

Choose "Sort Discards".

Then you can choose "chronologically" or "by value".

Re: Opinions wanted - discarding with a play clue if 2 clues well be needed next round?

Thanks all for the answers! It's really helpful. In this situation the red on chop was already marked (a splash from a previous clue), but yeah when I looked back on the replay I was surprised that multis weren't bluffed as that does seem like the obvious answer for yellow as it causes the same card...

Opinions wanted - discarding with a play clue if 2 clues well be needed next round?

I'm curious what peoples thoughts are on this situation. https://hosting.photobucket.com/09bbbb5f-da3f-4b3f-a838-609e6ee3d2d4/b4f34c29-6cdf-49b4-b6d2-f3ee855acca8.png?width=1435&height=967&fit=bounds The player to left (blue) has a free discard, but then 2 critical cards on chop. I have just...

Re: Too Zealous about not skipping

I think this issue is that a lot of beginner players fear discarding so will prefer to clue rather than discard without thinking if that is the best option. They then get constantly told not to skip by other players, and they learn "never skip" as they improve. --- Some other reasons to sk...

Re: Everyone makes mistakes. Pls be kind.

I think it should come down to: [*] If you are playing with people more experienced with you, be prepared and willing to learn. [*] If you are playing with people less experienced with you, be prepared for mistakes and be willing to teach. I agree with blametherogue in that if a player makes mistake...

Re: Correction 'finesse' imo leads to bomb

As a general rule, if a correction is required in order to prevent a bomb, at any stage in the game, then you should not read a play clue from that clue. I think Silene makes a good point - if the correction could be given more precisely and wasn't, then you should assume there was a reason for that...

Re: Chop focus or no?

Obviously if you know a player plays differently you adapt to their play. But I'd say generally, I'd (almost) always play left most, and most players I have come across do too. Regarding the logic "you are preventing it from discard for a reason" - I agree with that, but that reason doesn'...
