Re: 🌿ELO System Updates

This prevents you from competing against them in ranked games or the Arena, but not in Tournaments. Which is why I have always believe that tournament system better reflects a player's skill than arena. Unfortunately BGA disfavors tournaments, giving less exp points and haven't actively improving i...

Re: Has anyone won this game??

Most of the time it is not about your strategy but more on whom you are playing with. Cooperative games with non-decreasing ELO are infested by incompetent free riders who join any many tables as they can in the hope to collect ELO without any playing skills. You can identify them with their profile...

Re: ELO adjustments

Another way is to enable options for mini tournament within tables like Challengers (where players are divided into groups of subtables and the player with most winning subtables wins) and only adjust ELO for tournament competitive mode, no ELO adjustment for single table cooperative mode. BGA isn't...

Re: ELO adjustments

Although somewhat interesting as a thought experiment, I definitely don't have time or knowledge to build some AI solution. Building the game itself is quite enough in its own right! Also, two important points you may have missed: The ELO change for all players at the table must be the same amount....

Re: ELO adjustments

Train an AI to play the game. Every time a player makes a move, compared that to the AI's choices. For sigmoid (softmax needs renormalization) output, set target ELO as AI output value for the player's chosen move * 800. Average target ELO = sum of ELO for every move / (number of moves + 1) Moves +1...

Re: Why do people join fast turn-based games in the wrong time zone?

Sometimes you may end up with a player expecting to perform his 8 moves per day 10am-4pm while another expects 4pm-10pm, effectively slow your table down to 1 move per day. The world is not perfect. Of course, a more probable scenario is that the players joining your table don't pay attention to pla...

Re: My suggestions for improving the game

My reason for startover is not about avoiding mistakes but to see "what if I do this". Right now, you can't see the consequences of placing your clues on the notepad until you click on the whim you want to guess. But it is too late once you click on it, if the notepad shows that the whim i...

Re: My suggestions for improving the game

I think the difficulty is OK but ELO calculation disfavors low player count and you're stuck as apprentice for a while. Not sure how some games achieve 20-50 points though.
What's missing is an end turn confirmation with option to startover so that automatic mode can be more helpful.

Re: Games not loading

From what I (mis)understand, BGA today has far more users than their servers can handle, which causes resource fetch to be aborted all the time. Perhaps Brave browser does not retry aborted transaction while other browsers do. Clearing your browser cache can also worsen the problem as you need to re...

Looking for a game with long thinking time and few turns

Looking for one where the rules aren't too complicated or too wordy.
So far, these are the ones I know:

Kingdom Builder: too sensitive to luck
Railroad Ink: zero player interaction
The Builders: Middle Ages: not many players, can't undo entire turn
Reflection: dexterity game

Any others?
