I guess the point is the two player do not get the same card to place on the board, but don’t know who got what. It adds uncertainty.

The card does not mean that players put the card on the board face down.

I feel like other monsters can also end the game quickly ( or its end anyway ) with two very lucky first roll. Meka dragon is dangerous but the game offers you a range of way to counter it. And boy is it satisfying to counter it. So Yeah MD may lower the fun a bit but i don’t find it that unbalanced...

I am having so much fun.
I don’t feel that meka dragon make the Game unbalanced, it just make the game more luck related than strategy related but we are playing a dices game here.
If your opponent choose it you just need to be ajust a bit.
