Re: How well does it play async / turn-based?

The game plays great in turn based. Compared to Ark Nova, Darwin's Journey's board is information dense and can feel a bit noisy. The developers have done an outstanding job with the UX to help with this: take some time to familiarize yourself with the custom game history and its use of iconography....

Re: Darwin's journey solo

My first few games against Alfred (white - easy) had me in the 100s and Alfred in 180s. After more games, I started to win more with my points being between 180-210 and Alfred's points between 90-170. I then started to try Alfred (blue - medium), and proceeded to lose. I slowly started to win with m...

Re: Darwin's journey solo

Alfred can be a difficult. Knowing some of Alfred's rules and preferences may help you hone your tactic to defeat Alfred. Alfred's Exploration action is much stronger than a normal player. From an action economy point of view, a player need to spend 3 Coins and use 2 workers to get the equivalent be...

Re: can't build reptile house, why?

In table https://boardgamearena.com/14/arknova?table=545399128, there is no space that accommodates the reptile house shape where it is adjacent to an existing building. If you use an additional X to perform Build action at 6, then you could place a 1-size building, such as a Pavilion, on the bottom...

Re: dice used in catan is biased

The issue isn't that the distribution isn't random. The issue is that is doesn't FEEL random. After all, what if the dice gods are mad at you? Is there a way for the program to counter the dice gods? Maybe this is what should be discussed! I did not mean to imply the distribution is random or not r...

Re: dice used in catan is biased

For what it is worth, I parsed 10k games. The dice distribution is well within the expect range of a of 2d6 distribution.

Re: dice used in catan is biased

With a background in computer science, I can confidently affirm that the sample set in the example is too small to determine if the generator is random or not random. For those interested in understanding the complexity of proving or disproving randomness, see NIST SP 800-22, A Statistical Test Suit...

Re: dice used in catan is biased

No. The source code cannot affirm randomness. The source code can only affirm no biased manipulation of the result received from the interpreter API. If no manipulation is found, then those who assert non-randomness will claim a custom interpreter, kernel, hypervisor, etc. As mentioned above, the on...

Re: Where did disabling undo in Azul dissapeared?

I like that idea - no one should be making multiple 'honest mistakes' within one game. Probably would reduce it to two rather than three though, due to the length of Azul being a relatively short game. From my experience, players with hand tremors can certainly make multiple honest misclicks/taps. ...

Re: Please add an option to ban the eagle

A simple computation could allow a conclusion to be drawn, but it will not have a level of confidence that can prove or disprove the aforementioned claim. Examining the data point of a card being played does not allow one to distinguish between the player winning from playing the card or if the play...
