Probably not. There was more real time arena play over a year ago, when it was a 2-player arena.

A lot of resources for one card. Now, if you had Espionage yourself you could have done this 4x instead of "only" 3x.

I have not tried the tutorial but usually the game selects the mandatory resources for you. In this case "culture". You only have to select what you want to use for the second resource. I hope that helps

You can always try to click on "unblock stuck game". You get that option when you click on the gear icon on the right under your avatar.
I used that a couple times already to get out of situations similar to yours
