At the top of the screen, there will be a new button that says something like "Begin Inaugural Run". You don't have to start; you could lay more tiles to shorten the route. If that button doesn't appear then you don't have a finished route. It's not always obvious that you can also contin...

Allow the player to try out the tiles anytime

I would like to try out how the tiles would work out on the board, but currently it's not possible. This is a possibility in Carcassonne for example, you can try out the fitment when it's not your turn.
