Twice recently it refused to allow me to follow the shortest legal path.

Forcing everyone to play with Trainer cards seems the bigger problem. These games take long enough already without adding an extra decision after every card flip, which is the case for many of the Trainer types.

Including the Rhubarb is not for advanced players. When given the choice to draft it, it should almost always be done. It's way too lucky to be included.

Also the turn should end automatically when one has no more plays and targeting of the other player should happen automatically as well.

These were the Mayfair rules and I would much prefer them. Finishing your track first and making it efficient should count for something, but currently it counts for very little.
