Re: Can anyone tell me what I should do in this situation?

This is an example of having good intentions but bad results. The clue looks great in theory since, even though you don't know if that is MC3 or k3, you should play the 1 first anyways and will have time to find out. Problem is, the person with k5 can't let MC3, green 1, and MC4 go when all could be...

Re: Chop focus or no?

I always play chop card. If you chop save a card, you are preventing it from discard for a reason. It either needs saved (its other has been discarded) or it is playable. That is not "chop focus", that is logic. Since we are not allowed by conventions to early save random cards (though man...

Re: Help With Mobile Viewing

Not an android user, so hopefully you get advice (if there is even a fix to begin with). But in the meantime, if you know the issue, just play Hanabi in Chrome and you don't have to worry about it. Or more importantly, simply remember what blacks were played...and if all else fails, just ask the boa...

Re: Play right most from a chop play clue

When a # clue touches the chop, the chop card should be treated as the important card. It should be either a save (other is discarded or it is a 5) or it should be playable. If I am the one receiving the number clue, and I see the same number on next player's chop, I consider it could be that card a...

Re: Cheating or luck?

Apparently I’ve insulted the cult that is BGA BG players. This is a thread about luck vs cheating so god forbid someone chimes in on how often “unlikely” rolls take place 🙄 I never said bga cheats but on a site where participation is critical, having an algorithm that gives favorable rolls to a less...

Re: Cheating or luck?

Zzzzzz Do you play BG in person? Or only online (bga/apps)? A person with a general knowledge of probability can calculate the odds of X occurring. Do you want to leave that pip exposed? “They have to roll a 10 to hit it, so odds are 1/12 or 8.33%” and can make decisions from there. In any small sam...

Re: Cheating or luck?

Not sure why you mention priori other than there are a finite amount of outcomes with the dice (36), but each outcome most certainly does not have an equally likely chance to occur. And post hoc I understand bc you’re talking about how after something happens, we perceive it to have occurred more of...

Re: Cheating or luck?

Those talking about the odds are discounting the fact that OP had to roll a non-1 roll also. Now, having pips on 5/6 vs 2/3 is different, but assuming it was on 2/3 and all he had to do was not roll a 1, there are 11/36 rolls that have a 1 in its result, so in that moment, the odds of losing were 11...

Re: Being able to abandon games

That's the issue though - I don't want to be careful - I want to press play now with my preferred settings, and have a game with people who also want to the same settings, including my choice in convention. But everyone is by default set up to all conventions, so you end up with people joining in g...

Re: Discard a known card

This is known as "gentlemen's discard" and MOST OF THE TIME, an appropriate play. It is a form of discard control (rather than letting them discard blind a potentially valuable card, such as the green 3, maybe the green 2 is about to be drawn), and as you said, you get the exact same token...
