Re: Should social birds count as a new turn for the timer?

I feel that changing this would cause more trouble than it would solve. As has been deftly pointed out, it's simply not an option in turn based games where a player may choose a time setting because they know they can't, for instance, take more than one turn a day. In speed games, what if you have t...

Re: Kicking someone who’s barely past their thinking time

There are different game speeds that players select. I choose fast play for a reason; if a player takes more than their allotted time, they could choose a slower speed. If there is a connection issue or other extenuating circumstance (and the player is communicating), we all get it. But I don't und...

Re: Premium membership not worth it. I'm canceling.

I think my premium membership is an outstanding value. I could probably get by with the basic, but I want to be part of the group that keeps the lights on here. In terms of how responsive they are, it's MUCH better here than on another gaming site I play other games on. On that site, they have a sug...

Re: A rational solution to "the big 4"

For the ravens, just make them worth zero points at the end of the game, rather than 4 and 5. That's a gentle solution. For the Killdeer/Gull, just assume they have no egg slots. Part of the reason they are powerful is that they can use their own egg to trigger the ability, so just remove that opti...

Re: A rational solution to "the big 4"

At home we don't remove anything, but we play with all expantions. With nearly 400 cards you won't see one of the big four very often. And there are a lot of other bigger birds in game. My little brother created a tucking engine with european birds. And won that round by tucking nearly 80 birds.......

A rational solution to "the big 4"

I'm not posting this here to encourage any action on this site specifically,, but rather, because I assume I'm not the only one who also plays at home on the board. So I mention it as a possible house rule if you want to fix the OP nature of them without removing them from the deck. This is one of t...

You can see performance statistics for over 4000 boards here (2 player only): https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3389781/statistics-from-4020-wingspan-boards-2p Here are the top 20 birds for winning percentage (minimum 50 plays) The same bird played in different regions count as different birds (F=fo...

Re: Rank these birds...

Alongside the usual favourites like crows, towhee, tucking cards, and hummingbirds I have some personal faves: Black crowned heron in starting hand or drawn first turn, especially if I have a mourning dove or red winged blackbird to put in wetlands. Once I have that set up and can eventually draw t...

Re: Dislike GG

I nearly always say it. Win or lose. However, when I beat someone by 20+ points (especially if they fail to get to 70 or something), I'm often torn because, well, it was not a good game and I'm inclined to choose the "Thanks for the game!" response from the menu.

Rank these birds...

So, the topic on crows got me thinking about how everyone thinks about the remaining birds after the big 5 are gone... Here's a list of them in no particular order: Common yellowthroat- bonus card porn and a great starting bird in the wetlands with better than average egg space Spotted towhee- who d...
