I'm fairly certain excavation site nullifies any placement bonuses so no, border spaces would not trigger archeologist (or any other) type of bonus. Correct me if wrong but this was my experience during a recent alpha MW game.

If I have primate breeding program and a sponsor which gives me a primate icon (e.g. primatologist, free range new world monkeys), can I play it and then use its tag to play primate breeding program? If so, do I just need any partner zoo to count? Curious about this because the breeding program card...
