How do you quit an arena game before it starts

I'm finding that I do not understand the cryptic message "Sorry, you cannot quit an Arena table this way (please use Play / Cancel button)" that comes up when I press quit game when I try to quit an arena game that does not yet have enough players.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, but I would like to see a level of undoing mistakes that is comparable to a typical casual game night, which typically means that you can undo something as long as the next player hasn't started their turn and that no new information has been added to the board. ...
