Re: [FR] Could we cap ELO loss at 0 for perfect games?

Good question, maybe someone from BGA's ELO programming team can answer. I'm just basing my answer from my experience with 5 player games where the team has an average ELO of 1050-1100 and the result is a gain of 0. I don't know what happens if the ELO is higher since unfortunately there aren't enou...

Re: How to use the colour clue flamb

It depends on your token count and the overall game context. If cards haven’t been playing for a few turns, the clue‑receiver is naturally more cautious. Most players bomb unless they’ve seen this situation before, especially in 2‑player games. Experienced players, however, recognize when a clue is ...

Re: [FR] Could we cap ELO loss at 0 for perfect games?

Actually, at 5 players the system is designed exactly that way. You can’t lose elo for a perfect score, but you’ll sometimes end up gaining nothing. That might be the baseline they calibrated the model around, and the effect simply cascades down to other player counts.

Re: [FR] Could we cap ELO loss at 0 for perfect games?

I agree that something in the difficulty calibration needs to be adjusted. It feels like the difficulty settings for 3‑ and 4‑player games are noticeably lower than for 5‑player games. Either that, or the average ELO of your group is simply too high compared to the difficulty level you selected. Fro...

Hanabi videos with commentary

Hey everyone! I’ve launched a new YouTube channel focused on Hanabi, specifically high‑level 5‑player games with commentary. I walk through the logic, the reads, the conventions, and the chaos that makes 5‑player Hanabi so fun. Check it out here: www.youtube.com/@hanabionyoutube My current mission i...

Pestilent Double Bluff > Promise Double Bluff

Hello Forum, I’d like to present my arguments for why Pestilent Double Bluff (PDB) is stronger, clearer, and more broadly useful than Promise Double Bluff (PrDB) and why PDB should be the default convention used on BGA in the majority of games. Because these two conventions directly conflict, only o...

Re: B Side vs. A Side

I find it very interesting that the top arena scores are so high in comparison to previous seasons. The top 3 scores are out of this world but also the top 20 is much higher. Is the higher overall arena score due to the top players being absolute maniacs or can it be explained by side B having a mor...

Re: Most Efficient Build

Interesting. To what rate would you say that such 7-turns games occur? Once every 100 games? 50? 200? For me it is 0 times in 900 games, I've never even thought about it until recently and I suspect most players don't try this until much later in their Harmonies progression. Here is another thing I...

Re: New expansion for harmonies. Harmonies pulse

I am scared that an expansion will ruin the game. I will probably just keep playing the OG version without animal spirits.

Re: Most Efficient Build

That's cool @ lelion92, I've never ended the game in 7 turns on side A but I did end it in 8 turns on side B in a 4 player game which is almost as cool. Here is what that looked like: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=808953291 Interesting fact, this build also started with Ladybug as I suspect...
