Lookout Spiele (the publisher) is owned by the Asmodee, which also owns BGA. So, I guess this is the right place to call any issues with the game.

The first player only feels “OP” if they open with the Douglas Fir and trigger the bonus replay effect. Violet Carpenter Bee does not give points on Sycamore (Tree)

I checked the forum and it is not mentioned anywhere. Violet Carpenter Bee should work on all trees, but from what I ve noticed it does not work with Sycamore (awards 0 points), not sure if it has issues with other trees.
