Re: Spotted Towhee needs to join the powerful bird cards.

The banned powerful birds are significantly more powerful than Spotted Towhee. Barn Swallow and American Crow are also more powerful than Spotted Towhee IMO.

At any rate, there will always be a most OP bird remaining after banning some on the top.

Re: Top Beginner Mistake

I agree, this mistake is one of the most common (and decisive). The example mentioned is quite good, especially regarding the loss of food, which is often an important resource at the start of the game. But there are much more obvious examples, like when some players spend the first 8 turns aiming ...

Re: Top Beginner Mistake

I think spending the food is the issue. Otherwise, it's fine to go after the first round goal, especially if it involves laying eggs, which will need to be done anyway. In the scenario you described, if spending the food means taking a very inefficient "gain food" action to play the next ...

Re: Top Beginner Mistake

IMO, the biggest mistake beginners make is: Trading momentum/efficiency for early end-of-round (EOR) goals. i.e. prioritizing the early EOR goals ahead of simply building your engine faster. A classic scenario: You're taking the final turn of the first round. The EOR goal is eggs in grassland. You ...

Re: Arena games

I didn't want to do that because I do enjoy playing the elite on occasion but have had to resort to that now. Pity GBA seems to put you up with the highest players first rather than your equals with an occasional good player to keep you interested Where do you see the option to do this? I don't see...

Re: Max Score w/o Feeding?

Some variation of the grassland combo of Raven / mockingbird / catbird / sandhill Crane / Canada goose can score more than 165. I haven't experienced with it. But, before anyone tried to reinvent the wheel: https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2146982/experiment-whats-the-maximum-amount-of-points-you/p...

Re: Max Score w/o Feeding?

Thanks for this very interesting challenge! After several attempts, I just finished a game with 174 points using the rules described. I'm going to share my play sequence, but first, I want to talk about some principles I tried to apply. - Social birds are very powerful since we have no counterpart ...
