Further to my observations.

Closing browser (Firefox in my case) and restarting seems to work.

First game matchmaking seems to work. Subsequent games get the start cancellers. Weird !

Yesterday I spent 20 minutes trying to get a 4 player basic game going. Start cancellers completely ruined this experience for me.
