Super Frustrated with ELO points

Why is it that I am at place 1 and place 2 get way more points than I? Or that I am at place 3 but there are more points deducted than from place 4? That is really weird and super annoying. Takes out the fun if I am losing although I have a higher place. And it does not make sense... Anyone else who...
