Re: Corn v Indigo v Sugar v Tobacco v Coffee
Coffee So what is being developed when matters a great deal, so the order in which goods are being aquired matters. These are related to plantation draws in early rounds, so taking Quarry is an advantage but hinders the plantation development and limits the very early options so is a trade off to c...

Controversy on 'classical' v 'balanced' Discussion
Intro: I play 4-player games exclusively, so it is meant for 4-player games Note: 2, 3, 5 player games are different and the options modify the play differently Note: I play 'classical' games only, cause I am convinced that 'balanced' option breaks the strategic depth of the game 'Classical' v 'Bala...

Re: Corn v Indigo v Sugar v Tobacco v Coffee
Very good text, but I want to emphasize that "no balanced" games are not fair, and it's easily to be proven. If you take a look in % of wins, 3rd and 4th players win more than 75% of time in this format. It's ridiculous. I'm a already experienced player and I've tried to play in this form...

Re: Which is your favorite building and why? (4 players base game without expansions)
Another of my favorite: Hacienda Hacienda is the only building that rely on RNG, but it might be the best building (used to always build it with first builder), so lets see why: It costs 2 db which is fairly cheap and accessible from the very start and has an effect of giving one randomly drawn plan...

Re: Exploring Strategy
Hello Santa Maria I was expecting you to write about Ferocious Shipper. To me, that's the most common strategy on this game. Seems easy to follow but it's also easy to fail there. Hi Eventually I will, but, I have only played the Ferocious Shipper a handfull of times and so don't really know how to...

Re: Exploring Strategy
Builder Orthodox so lets look at what each seat can do in this strategy Seat 1 so starting with seat 1, there are many options but lets look at some ideas: Opening with Settler Quarry is the main line, but then you either pass on first build action to get your Quarry manned, this helps to develop, ...

Re: Exploring Strategy
A very important point for the Builder strategy: If you aim at the large building "Guild Hall" then at the end of the game you need almost no money for gaining quite a lot of additional points via the builder role. A large indigo/large sugar mill will be very cheap (probably even free wit...

Re: Exploring Strategy
Builder Orthodox so lets look at the builder strategy, what is it about? The point of this strategy is to prioritize building and have high building score with aiming for 2 or 3 large buildings and have them manned for bonus points. The VP chips for shipping are being neglected as building is being...
