Just to add, I am in the exact same boat as msclark, the change is more of an annoyance to me than a killer, but it's still an annoyance that didn't need to be added (as are the constant notifications that pop up telling me it's my turn, though if it was just that I wouldn't be complaining that muxh)

I think it's because it was set up as a Real-time game, so even with no time limit set there is an automatic cut-off after a relatively short period of time. The effect when you go out of time but don't get expelled is (a) you don't get the usual +1 karma for the finished game (b) you have a note on your profile with a clock-symbol for 60 days. You do not get a karma-penalty or be considered having lost the game just because you were over the time limit...

Not sure Pie rule is working correctly - didn't switch player symbols, just gave player one another turn with the same symbols selected
