I think an X token is more flexible and a better solution than a free clever.
Especially if your actions are already in a fine order the clever would be wasted.

I think the best solution is to mianly focus on own mentality in this matter.
Why does the "fun" you had in the game come from teh ELO gained/lost?
Just be glad you played a nice tight game?

If Elo gains/loss really bug you that much perhaps play unranked and just enjoy the game that way.

Perhaps you could make a 2 player game with hotseat for second player.
Not sure if possible but in normal games if one player quits the other has the option to keep playing.
That could be a solution if you want to finish game in own speed.
