Re: Elo manipulation by turn based games
The reason they did it with Arena is because players were purposefully dragging their losing game on past the deadline so the result wouldn't count at all. If it was partly the same reason to do it in normal turn-based games, then they could/should put this restriction in as-well. In fact they did ...

Re: Elo manipulation by turn based games
No, this has been used extensively by a few players to claim 1st ranking in multiple games. Nonsense. Congratulations on joining the conspiracy theory wing of the forum that believes the rand function is rigged, that AI bots have been secretly developed, that players extensively hack the interface,...

Re: Elo manipulation by turn based games
Because your rating get's lower first, you will end up with higher rating. Am I missing sth? No, you are quite right. This is well known amongst turn based players. it can be used to give you a slight boost, or to mitigate a little on a dramatic loss. But the effect is quite minor - it might let yo...

Re: Red Thumb reasons - add something that fits for coop games
Sometimes when I play a coop game, there is an obvious saboteur. And yes, I red thumb them. But there isn't a reason that fits as a warning to the community. It's kind of the opposite of king-making. This is just part of the general toxicity that you have chosen to be involved with in the coop comm...

Re: TimeOut Overnight
My first forum post and everyone defends the house. What a waste of 4 years slowly moving towards connection. :( You seem to be taking this way too personally. Its a game - you joined one where you didn't understand the rules, as a result you did badly. That cannot be a new experience. Now you know...

Re: Conceding matches long before they're lost is out of hand.
... wonder if it’s considered rude to not resign, in other words to play out any reasonably close game. The answer is that resignation is a personal choice. You have no right to be offended if an opponent resigns and no right to be offended if they continue to play. Getting offended at either of th...

Re: Lost ELO and Arena ranking in a [timed-out] game that I would have won
It's a known problem that a lot of people seem unhappy about. I don't know if it's because of the new elo system or what (see the massive thread at https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=171559#p171559). Nothing to do with it. The issue with multi-player games has been apparent for a long...

Re: Kicked off of site
If you had a connection problem the answer is no. If the site had a problem penalties get reversed once the site has sorted, if the problem was at your end you just suck the penalty up - karma is not very important and you should ignore it.
