It's barking mad, but "each time you use" actually means "strictly before you use". So no, you have to get the occupation first, and then the improvement.

Furrows lets you sow in an already existing field, it doesn't let you plough a new field.

Presumably that's because there are a handful of ties for first.

This is just how it is with any game on here that has a significant luck factor. I don't think Challengers is particularly special. It'll get better over time, though. Eventually more people will get to gold so you'll have more gold players in your games and your wins will be worth more / your losse...

I think you have a lack of imagination if you'll literally never play those cards. Don't forget that even a totally blank occupation can be worth playing if it comes with some food (Patron) or a vegetable (Bookcase) or a point (Tutor), and all of those cards are clearly better than blank in the righ...
