Re: Longboat Tile

I don't know about other players but I find the longboat tile far to much of a "joker" and and swing a game way too much. All games have an element of luck to them but that tile I think pushes that to a level beyond sensible and spoils the game. Suggestion: How about having a "Longbo...

Strategic Variant

I'm playing in a game which is described as strategic variant. Where can I find a description and rules for this variant?

Tile List?

Is there a list depicting the 78 regular and 16 menhir tiles?

Re: Thoughts about Elo

Distinguished? Extinguish that please - for Very Strong as TheClaudeQc recommends. Don't like apprentice master - a glaring contradiction. Rather: Strong Expert, then Master, then Strong Master. Above that, Grandmaster and Strong Grandmaster. All easy to remember and figure out.

Re: Play by Play Analysis Thread

(2) seems to have it, 3-0 in favour already... If whatshisbucket is willing to play a return game, with him starting, then andy would also be more free to leave his orchestra to their own devices when he needs be occupied elsewhere as he has said he would. Presumably the return game would be on a di...

Re: Play by Play Analysis Thread

I don't like (3). Limits discussion, and likely to cause some ill-feeling between partners. So far our willingness to agree on a consensus is impressive.
Happy to go along with (1) or (2). Another idea: if that board was lacking somewhat, why not try another board for our next game?

Somewhere I hope. I really enjoyed that, more than normal games even. Fantastic team spirit. What does our leader say? Where has he gone?

Re: Play by Play Analysis Thread

I think Cheery Dog's idea 7.Tc9d89e9(-4) is much better than the other moves found so far - it will win by more than a tie-break.
Mainly because the 0's at e,f,h0 are now unsaveable.
e.g. 8.Sab3bc2(-6), 9.Ia7-0(-3), 10.Ib-e4(-2), 11. Ie-h0(+1) END.

Re: Play by Play Analysis Thread

Firstly, regarding notation: I think it is essential to have some notation. If the system I proposed is thought too difficult by csaphiro alone (in fact Cheery Dog and T72on1 are also not happy with it) then I am indeed grateful to csaphiro for finding a system that he would be happy with. I am only...
