Re: Not sure what I did wrong

You both made a lot of mistakes, but that's how it goes in collaborative games like Hanabi. On the whole, you played all right, while your teammate was giving more nonsensical clues based on the conventions BGA Hanabi players use. 1. Players in 2-player like to give 2 clues early. You giving the 2 c...

Re: Flamboyants are not a good part of the game.

Here I propose, against the official game rules, Separate from any other comments I may make, I want to point out that as soon as you say this, you are talking about something that will not and can not ever be implemented here on BGA. BGA has a fairly strict policy to only implement rules variants ...

Flamboyants are not a good part of the game.

It seems like everyone is playing with flamboyants these days. And I understand the appeal - they give more opportunities to win, and make up for the extreme difficulty of black powder. They can also compensate for an unlucky start and keep the hope of a perfect score alive longer. However, in pract...

Re: Army Size, start with 1 ?

You might have been looking at road length, which does start at 1.

Re: two player arena

2P is a far, far better format for TTR, at least for Arena. The USA map isn't great for 2P though. And in general, I would be fine with switching between number of players for different Arena seasons.

Re: Community consensus / unwritten rules about blocking?

Blocking is not a conception or a rule, it's a strategy. It is sometimes not even a good strategy, and hopefully you can play in such a way that prevents blocking from being a good strategy. But as long as you're not objectively kingmaking, there's no way it can be considered unsportsmanlike.

Re: Catan stealing mechanic

The stealing mechanic is here to make the game close. In theory, the player who is ahead will get stolen from more often. If you are getting stolen from a lot, it probably means the other players thought you the most formidable opponent. Now, they may be wrong about the state of the game, and that's...

Re: Why did I lose points for an arena tie?

If you are higher rated, your points will go down. You can see some of this explained in the standard rating (non-Arena).

Re: two player arena

Guru voting is a bit biased, yes.

But what's wrong with 2 player? The game is quite different, sure, but so much more fair and competitive. Fun strategies like blocking actually make sense in 2 player and "playing defense" is actually relevant.

2 Games with Identical Numbers

I recently had two consecutive Arena games that had identical production numbers on the board and desert location. Some of the resources underneath were different, as were the ports, but the numbers were the same. I calculate that has a 1 in 237 TRILLION chance of happening, in other words, impossib...
