From my point of view - I see many posts/comments from private groups that do not interest me and should stay private to the group.
Group chat works correctly in terms of privacy but messages are not saved and if you are not online you will not see it.

+1 for Gastronomy only in Arena Mode next season. Preparations are overcompensating and eventually, increase random factor instead of decreasing it.

1) People can lie
2) Whatever you say in public chat - opponents see it as well and can use it to their advantage. If people spoke in private, then it would be cheating.

For 4 players I would keep base game, but remove Preparations and add Gastronomy instead. However, in my opinion most competitive variant which could be seasonally switched with above mentioned variant is 2-player game with Crossroads expansion. I would really like to see a poll here to determine it.

I see that tournaments got Arena Mode Experimental option now. Any info on that?

The only change I do not like is that I can't see online players anymore. It was very useful for games like Saboteur or Werewolves where you want to see if experienced players are available.
