Re: Can a Bad Card Still Be Great?

Beautifully written! I had the experience once of an in-person game where the cursed visionary leader was drawn mid-game and somehow dovetailed with an all-wetlands strategy that maxed it out at the end, resulting in victory. It was a lot of fun! I also enjoyed the name of the card and liked pickin...

Can a Bad Card Still Be Great?

I'm going to defend a bonus card, at least a little. I realize that's a rather bold thing to do, since it seems to be disliked by almost everyone, if the discussions I've read are anything to go by. First, let me tell you a personal story. It isn't particularly important in itself, but it helps expl...

Re: [Advanced] Convention of turn's timing pick when hitting nothing

Maybe we could generalise by suggesting that on the turn or river, if : - The new card does not improve our hand - And the new card has no chance (based on all the information shared so far) of improving a weaker hand to the point where it beats our own hand then we could immediately take the same ...

Re: What can you say during a game?

The rules are very ambiguous. I would say that 4/ is OK , unless you have a pocket pair and you are the player concerned by the fall. I would say that the 5/ is not OK , because you talk about a card you had. It could be OK (?) only if you don't mention that you saw this card in your hand. As for th...

Re: 'High card promesse' vs better distribution of hands

This question is to know what should be advised for new players (what should be wroted at the top of the wiki page), which potentially would goes into higher tables later on (if you ask them contradictory things there, the transition will be difficult). It should work too for lower elo table. The o...

Re: 'High card promesse' vs better distribution of hands

I didn’t read yet the second post. Those are “in betweens hands” that I usually slow play on preflop, waiting for the teammates moves before filling the gaps. For example with A3, if quickly someone take the 6 and another one the 5, I know im probably between them. Then I take the 6, put it immediat...

Re: Help with In-Person Game where Points were miscalculated

There’s only one scenario that could make me change my mind: A: “LAST CHANCE! WITH 13 POINTS!!” (no hint of any doubt about the number of points; contrasting example: “LAST CHANCE! I think I have 13 points”) ... (same scenario as OP) B: "14 points, I’ve won the round!" A: "Wait... I a...

Re: Help with In-Person Game where Points were miscalculated

That's a tough question. I would say that the announced score must be correct. If it is incorrect, it must result in a disadvantage for Player A. Player B must be able to naively rely on Player A's announcement and play accordingly. So based on that, I would say 13-14. Of course, if it had been an e...

Re: Optimal Strategy

The game has definitely changed a lot with the new expansion. Sometimes it seems better not to maximize certain moves, or to deliberately hold back. Despite my strong skills in the “classic” game (and the Extra Salt expansion), I still haven’t found the right balance. I’ve gone from about a 75% win ...
