No colored disc upon the city that a player gains control of

When a player gains control of a city, either by conquering either by instigating a civil war, there is no colored disc upon the city's fortification number. Also, underneath the gained city-card there is no cube indicating the current population of the city. Because of the fact that I am a beginner...
