On the other hand, if there's someone who wishes not to make their move until those before them have, they can always just wait. I guess the only problem there is the available turn time. Invisible placement shouldn't be an option. It doesn't work like that in the real game, and actually, the rules clearly state that the player picking the Mayor places colonists first, and then the next player and so on, which means that the last player HAS an advantage (the advantage of information)...

Elo has its inherent flaws, but getting rid of it and putting percentages is WAY worse. Please never do that. It would encourage players to play against weak players to inflate their victory %. At least, Elo gives a higher reward for beating better players; a % based score wouldn't discriminate. Eve...
