Tiebreaker in Swiss tournament

I am sure that this has been discussed before: In a seven round Swiss Carcassonne-tournament (https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=43043) I had a bye (free win) in the first round (bc. of an odd number of participants) then I played against six very strong opponents in the preceding rounds. The ...

Re: Carcassonne Inns and Cathedrals - Inn on T-Junction Tile

Tokoloshe, thanks for the clarification. I only own and know the pre-2014 edition and there the written rules clearly state that the inn only counts toward the right side of the street. I have never heard of or have seen this new rules with the centered inn. I am a little bit "shocked" that the game...

Re: Luck vs. skill

Since there is no doubling cube on BGA I would suggest the rating "luck 4, strategy 4". There is tons of strategy and on the long run you will prevail with better play. But for a single game luck is very (!) important. Compare it with chess: After 1 months, when you have got a basic grip on the tact...

Re: Farm around spring or not?

Davis, you are obviously taking about game #82570005. There is no bug there. Your field goes around the fountain and you got all 15 points for it (you had a 3-1 majority there). Your opponent got his 27 points for his field (he has a 1-0 majority there). Perhaps you overlooked the street at the rive...

Re: Field scoring

You are very well informed, Robo - so surely you will be correct. I bought my first CC in 2001, it has the "2nd rule edition". At the moment I think I own 3 or 4 copies of the base game alone. :-) Personally, I do not care about the 1st edition rule set and I doubt that this option it is used a lot ...

Re: Field scoring

Thanks Robo, for giving the timeline. You are only wrong with the farmer rule. According to Wikipedia, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carcassonne_(board_game) there were 2 older editions and only one of them was using city-perspective. I can confirm that Wikipedia is correct. The final, 3rd editi...

Re: Field scoring

@Not-Sure: I have to disagree. There have not been ANY rule changes for the last 18-19 years (!) at least. If we are discussing these old rules we are going far back into history. The 1st edition farmer rule was only officially used before 2001, i.e. before the game got promoted "Spiel des Jahres". ...

Re: Field scoring

Which farm scoring rule you prefer is a purely personal choice. It is fine if you prefer the 1st edition rules - unfortunately they are not correctly implemented here. You wrote: "Each city is only supplied by ONE farm". If you played it this way then you misinterpreted the rules of 1st edition. In ...

Re: Carcassonne-Tournaments Fair Play

Thank you for your reply, polettix. After my original post I found a thread from 2018. See: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=13197 There one player presents a tile counter (in spanish). Thus, I conclude that tile counters exist and might be in use by some players already. Please...

Re: Carcassonne Inns and Cathedrals - Inn on T-Junction Tile

The inn only counts for the right street of the T. The left street and the down street do not have an inn - they are normal streets.
