Re: Allow people to make Tutorials for games in Alpha
2. If someone is alpha testing a game, they should generally understand the rules and how to play it. Otherwise, how can they know if there are problems? Players unfamiliar with a game should wait until beta anyway. I agree about the tutorial waiting until beta (because as you say, it needs a stabl...

Re: As a beginner is it discouraged to join tables with experts?
Is there a section of the site where people wanting to learn how to play the games, and find others in a similar situation, or somewhere you could post to find someone patient enough to help you work through a game? Tutorials will only ever go so far I find. Some groups that may help with learning ...

Re: Translation context needed with examples
Trying not to mess up the quotes, wish me luck. Well, I acknowledge your feelings, but I just explained in this thread that I don't have a practical solution. What should I do, a public seppuku to atone for my failure? :D Surely that's too lenient for your crimes! :D No, I was just hoping to brainst...

Re: Translation context needed with examples
We have to balance the effort needed with the time available, and the effective inconvenience to the process; if some strings are left untranslated until a translator has encountered them in context while playing, it should usually not be a huge issue. I get where you're coming from, but at the sam...

Re: Accessibility Settings
forgive my ignorance, what is deafblind condition? Is that literally blind and deaf combined? That's right, although it's possible for people to still have a little bit of hearing or sight. There is a good book by activist Haben Girma where she talks about the progression of her condition and assis...

Re: Try games alone before playing them with others
Not all games have solo rules, and of those that do I'm not sure that all have solo mode implemented on BGA. (I get the impression that you're suggesting simply allowing a single player and expecting the interface to work, but that wouldn't necessarily be feasible - games could break in all sorts of...

Re: Raubbau is now in Alpha
sorry for the re-post. No need to shy away from Raubbau because it's an unknown game! The rules are fairly simple ( and you can download them on BGG), gameplay is fast, no down-time. Please give it a try. Feel free to comment in the group. If you like it, please spread the word (there are 3 times m...

Re: Rogues to Riches: is it possible to require voice chat?
Factum is another example. It has a textbox for players to write a story, but I imagine people might prefer to use voice chat.

Re: Ideas for non-abstract games that I might enjoy?
I think "rules change" in Red7 is a bit of a misnomer. It's really just one condition that changes (compared to the Fluxx family of games, for example). It's a neat little puzzle, but it also can feel like playing solitaire sometimes. I see Carcassonne has been mentioned, some other tile p...
