Is there any way to prevent from getting the same task if the user has played it (e.g. at least in the last 1-2 days or last ~10 games)? I understand your views, but honestly, at least in turn-based games (which I play 100% time and at least for the game I mentioned almost everybody plays in turn-based) timing out is not such a big problem since you're waiting for turns anyway up to 2 days.
