Re: ELO loss after a perfect game
Not Anubis, I noticed that you commented on an open bug report concerning this problem (possibly more than one - I don’t know if I have seen all relevant bug reports) but you didn’t provide any link or reference to the game where you encountered the problem. Nor have you provided such links or refer...

Re: Is it a good idea to bluff using a multicolor?
It’s pretty routine among masters. The clue receiver should be aware of all possible cards that the bluff target could be. Otherwise, you lose a lot of bluff opportunities, many of which will save multiple useful cards. For advanced players, saving cards is far more important than saving a token by ...

Re: Help me understand what happened?
discarding off chop -particularly if out of clues- is a signal something critical is on chop and the teamate should discard another card, preferable equal to the number of spaces away from chop. This is true, but due to the risk (which Romain points out) it should only be done in an emergency. Usua...

Re: Everyone plays for building building cards, should balance?
I’m not a great Gizmos player, but I’ve learnt that simply buying build-triggered gizmos is not an ideal strategy. The first few of them is usually important (because otherwise you’ll be building only every second turn, and that is just too slow) but if you build too many build->pick and pick-> draw...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
Do players not get heavily penalized on elo if they abandon games? IMO, not nearly enough. They should be banned from playing that game for a week afterwards or something like that. The current "penalty" doesn't seem to discourage the behaviour. Not on a first offence. Internet connection...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
I'm not arguing with your general point, but only with the connection to Hanabi, which was the matter in the post you quoted: what kind of competitiveness is there, where players abandon the games they see they can't win? what kind of fair ELO can be get there? The developers fixed that some time b...

But also, with ELO display currently disabled for Hanabi, how are you sure that this has happened?

Re: ELO loss after a perfect game
If the average elo of the team was above the " bot elo " for your particular settings, that's expected. Even wth a team mean rating above the highest bot rating for the settings, you shouldn’t lose rating points with a perfect score. According to this: https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Ga...

Re: So, have the games gotten better?
Even if one did find 4 other congruent players to achieve your postulated "perfect play", the newest ELO update included power leveling to eliminate that opportunity. I’m not sure that that change actually affects Hanabi, due to the fact that in Hanabi we aren’t winning our ELO points fro...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
When people have 2nd accounts to cheat with, are they playing from the same IP as the original account? BGA does detect players using the same IP address, but serious cheaters can change the IP address they connect with from one device, or potentially even from one browser window. Using a VPN is on...
