Re: Is the shuffling algorithm truly random?

I deeply deeply deeply wish that one of the post-game stats produced for this game was number of cards drawn.

Re: Chat during/after a game.

I say gg/gg wp when my opponent played well, otherwise I don't say anything. I don't think I want to disable the chat window, however, because having my profession in my user name has led to lots of interesting conversations. :)

Re: Can we revisit Red Thumb in Arena? Some ideas for improvement

As for the topic at hand: I have a much easier solution: Red thumbs should simply be disregarded in the Arena. It's absurd that someone could be at the top of the Arena ladder and then just red-thumb the players in positions 2-20 (or 2-whatever). What's funny about this is that I've become a freque...

Re: ELO on luck based games

Thanks FrankJones for pulling all those additional games, that was very interesting. I did see a lot of individual outliers when I was looking at those, which is how I went to top 10 (which is also a convenient # to copy since the site has no API). dschingis27, great earlier post and follow-up. (als...

Re: Homebrew ideas to balance the game

The funny thing is, the Common Hazel already has a buff (compared to say the Mole) - you can keep playing down bats instantly if you draw them. In practice, however, even with two hazels down I've rarely drawn additional bats, and certainly not more than once per turn.

Re: ELO on luck based games

The different Elo spreads in different games, to me, serve a function of illustrating the luck component of the game. Hearts and Spades have low Elo ceilings, indicating a high level of luck. Zero-luck games tend to have high Elo Ceilings, sometimes approaching 1000 or even 1100. To me, that has va...

Re: elo and arena

The addition of new leagues (platinum, diamond) was a nice way to have a better matchmaking. That did next-to-nothing to fix the actual issue. A lower skill player who plays a lot will still end up in Elite, it just may take them another few days. It really is frustrating, and frankly sometimes jus...

Re: Starting is OP

Forest Shuffle is an engine builder? Admittedly, this isn't a deck you use in a cycle format. But you could say it's an engine-building game, since you're looking to build synergies between cards, generally searching for cards that allow you to draw at the beginning, then scoring cards, and other c...

Re: Homebrew ideas to balance the game

I have played bats occasionally just because it's fun, and my starting hand warranted trying it. My problem with them is how quickly they fill trees when you get enough to put down - how about bats of the exact same type stacking? I think that would even be thematic. very nice idea! Unfortunately, ...
