Alas, no option to cancel the confirm button option. There is currently a configurable option in Settings. Aha, thank you. I was looking at the in-game settings via the right hand menu, but do see there is a setting for 'Figure's placement confirmation' within the Options > Preferences panel below ...

Within the settings you are able to set the scroll to use the mouse wheel with no keys so you can zoom in and out as previously.
