Re: wishing a bomb out of your partner
I must admit that I am currently among those players that like wishing for a low card they have not seen in the trade. However, wishing for a bomb is not my primary objective. I am rather hoping to destroy a straight, which would totally ruin my opponent's hand by leaving them with disconnected sin...

Re: Looking for a platform for playing live backgammon
You mean you're looking for a platform, where the dice rolls are artificially smoothened and balanced? You want a reliably even and fair distribution which random numbers that are not manipulated cannot offer? I don't know if something like that exists. Seems like a lot of work to even out the errat...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
This would still punish me in Arena for things completely outside my control. I'm playing Arena because I'm competitive and enjoy the sense of progression. Reducing the K-factor would still result in me being denied elo I'd previously earned. That's just one side from which to look at it. In additi...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
Instead of reducing K-Factor after a streak rather than giving a penalty - which has been suggested many times as a fix - it might be even more elegant and simpler to implement to reduce the K-factor already when playing someone many times (regardlessof streaks). So there would be no need to track r...

Re: 🌿ELO System Updates
And I'm hopeful the necessary action on consecutive wins will follow soon after a bit more monitoring and maybe the implementation of some necessary adaptions like K-factor adaption instead of just applying a point-reduction for the winner. My hope for this solution: Adapting K-Factor for both play...

Re: Another complaint about ELO
But, mostly, what needs to be recognized is that, in the vast majority of scenarios, it is harder to beat 3 other people or 4 other people or 7 other people than it is one. That's that many more people who can get lucky or be better than you. So, at absolute least, you shouldn't get LESS ELO for wi...

Re: Another complaint about ELO
https://boardgamearena.com/faq?anchor=faq_account_elo K-factor multiplier Then it's broken. Because, in a three player game, 1) if the lowest ranked player finishes last, they shouldn't get hammered on ELO and 2) with few exceptions it should be a net zero sum and this one wasn't close. About 30 pt...

All I was saying that their thoughts might not have been as one-dimensional as you paint them to be. Not saying all or any of those had to be their thoughts or had to be true. Just proposing some more variously facetted thinking about the situation. I don't see why you think you need to refute the s...

Re: Why Russian players can use their flag?
There is no proud flag-waving here. All there is is a tiny little icon as a bit of information where someone is from. People usually can't choose their nationality. BGA chose to show that piece of information as flag rather then 2/3-letter country code. Propably because they prefer pictures and colo...
