To some degree there is a separation between the player counts. The cap ELO you can get changes with player count. 5p being the highest. I'm a bit rusty on the exact numbers since I haven't played in ages on here, but I think it's something like 700 avg elo in a 3p game gets +0, 975 for 5p game gets...

Honestly they did Hanabi so dirty. They changed the interface which NOBODY asked for and it killed functionality on initial release, and although it's fine functionally now, it's just not an improvement and a waste of development time. In the meantime it alienated people. I much prefer the playstyle...
