Re: abuse time limit

came back with less than 3 seconds in the negative and was expelled....by someone that was over 2 minutes in the negative....NOT COOL. In my opinion this is a loophole of the system that should be improved. People with negative clock have no right to kick others out for negative clock... pot callin...

Re: No Time Limit shouldn't mean Training Mode

It is really hard to understand for me that you guys are so focused on Elo when you play untimed games with your friends. +100 1. Some feel it is infantilizing to be forced to play Training mode as if it suggests we don't know things and need to walk with training wheels or something. A bit exagger...

Re: No Time Limit shouldn't mean Training Mode

And maybe for games where no turn has been played for, say, 30 days, or maybe 365 days (perhaps configurable on set-up), the system could automatically abandon the game with no penalties. Precisely and this feature already exists. From the FAQ: A turn-based table is closed automatically if no move ...

Re: No Time Limit shouldn't mean Training Mode

How can you tell they were real-time? As the no time limit setting appears below all the turn-based time settings, I always assumed it was turn-based only. I'm not sure why anyone would start a real-time game with no time limit... In any case, as you suggest, reinstating no time limit for turn-base...

Re: No Time Limit shouldn't mean Training Mode

As an average, 10 issues each day, and considering this represent a really small number of games (the vast majority of no time limit are played in training mode), this is a lot. If you want to have a look, here is the exact list of the 12 tables that have issues the day before we stop this feature:...

Re: Player taking advantage of undo move to stall the game.

Fix we found: First expel warning is 20 seconds. Second is 10s. Then 5s, 2s, 1s, and finally no warning at all (immediate expulsion). Each time the turn of the player is really finished (= another player must play), this goes back to 20s. Thus, any player who tries to build a "loop" will ...

Re: Player taking advantage of undo move to stall the game.

The problem is that this doesn't just affect the framework undo, it is possible to exploit the 20 second last-chance timer in any situation where you can take a series of database actions and return to a previous state. For example, if you take a worker from Uxmal 2 in Tzolk'in, you can exchange re...

Re: Player taking advantage of undo move to stall the game.

I'm surprised this only showed up now; I've commented on the possibility of players abusing the Undo feature since last year and no one said a thing. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=13887 An easy fix could probably be for the inactivity timer to not count 'Undo' actions as an action, and continue ...

I don't agree. No one should be "immune" to consequences. If moderators decide to apply more leniency when judging cases with first time players that's fine. Immune is too much.

Re: How to report & need for better tournament restriction

This is rather disturbing. I don't play tournaments, but even I can understand the frustration caused by such users. If there are so many posts created about the same user, with so many responses, it is not a witch hunt to 'bully' or 'slander' said user, it is clearly a longstanding problem that is ...
