Yes, we need to be able to see the clue cards and the table at the same time rather than having to keep scrolling up and down while we are thinking, especially true if we are the clue giver!

Yes, we should all be able to verify as we play from all over the world some people may not understand something is a match due to a language barrier.

The consensus by high level ELOs is that it is acceptable to do as you are referring to, if you can create meta clues, more power to you!

I agree. In fact, if someone proposes play with only 5 (because they're inpatient) I quit the game. #sorrynotsorry

Personally, I think it is because their are two types of players and the game options have not yet been set to provide gameplay that separates the two types of players. Until that is done, their will always be contention. Purists vs Casual players. It's just totally different.
