Klaverjassen is also a partner based game but there it is no problem to get matches with different players.
If you want to play as a team you can make a new match, invite your partner en play table order 1/2 vs 3/4 and then open the game for others.

I made a poll because I am not sure Boardgame arena is using a common rule of klaverjassen

Arena should play Amsterdam rules in combination with 16 hands play.
