Re: 🌿ELO System Updates

No more Elo ratings for Hardback. Sad times. When the game had competitive mode enabled there were problems with cheating, however, the decision to remove it from arena over a year ago successfully got rid of the cheats and I had been enjoying the game much more ever since, having general fun playin...

Re: Wetlands and Desert Capital

I think pairing wetland and desert was a mistake when designing the game. The player gets a choice between the two worst capital options :(

Re: In a tournament: clock when trading?

I love Catan, and BGA has done a great job implementing it. However my biggest peeve is with the clock, and how an accumulation of opponent trade offers runs down the clock, with the only suggested solution being to turn off trade alerts. I want to consider every trade thank you very much. Why shoul...

Re: "Quail"

Is the unique words mentioned anywhere in the physical copy of the game? No it is not. It was added by suggestion of BGA players. It would add some challenge to romance-heavy decks. The option is off by default. I think it should be removed. BGA has a policy of not allowing house rules. I also pers...

Re: "Quail"

Looks like this game: https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=369469377 You enabled the unique words option when you created this take so you can't reuse quail multiple times during the game. It was accepted the first time, but not subsequent times. You can disable unique words (by default it i...

Re: House Rules

I discussed this with the designer and have slightly modified the rules as you suggested. The oldest card in the offer row will only be discarded if the offer row remains unchanged during your turn. In other words, the oldest offer card is discarded when you do not 1) flush the offer row, and 2) do...

Re: House Rules

In the 2nd edition of the game, the flushing rules got updated. Now if a player has not purchased a card on this turn, the oldest offer row card gets discarded and a new one added at the end of that players turn. I've had plenty of game which have suffered from a stalemate / slow phase due to offer ...

Re: Word Checks During Game

When my opponent looks up a word using the new tool during a game can I see it in the logs? The reason I ask is that one scenario I often come across with players is that they suddenly whip out an incredible and improbable long compound word first time (with no invalid guesses). When this happens it...

Re: Word Checks During Game

I suggest a further parameter option to permit/prohibit the use by any one player of any entire word more than once. In the election of prohibition, the use of the root more than once would be acceptable, so long that the entire word was different eg. run/runs/running etc. The choice becomes signif...

Word Checks During Game

The developer recently added a popular feature to allow users to check words during the game. I can see this being popular and useful, especially for foreign language players, or scenarios where there are differences between US Scrabble and British Scrabble. However, I feel this feature is a mistake...
