Re: Does the Black Market actually work on BGA?

You're right. I wasn't thinking about the possibility of getting chits in any other way, but yes: It just has to be the chits (which would be physicals tokens in the table game.) (without expansions, the only way to get them is via shipping)

Re: Chinese checkers is waiting for your reviews

Given racist origins (the use of marketing Orientalism with cringe worthy imagery in the early 20th century) of the name "Chinese Checkers" I'd like to suggest that we use the original German name for this game "Stern-Halma". This is especially applicable given the increase in a...

Re: the blind reserve from the deck

Not sure what you mean. When you take a blind card, everyone can see what row you took it from, but it stays face-down. This is as intended in the rules.

Re: Let's settle the lords problem once and for all

Yes. BGA has a policy of only allowing "official" variants and expansions of games, even simple rules changes. Otherwise the site would get bogged down with millions of proposed house-rules.

Re: Kingmaking/helping another player

Kingmaking is when you do it intentionally in order to cheat for someone else. Players are not perfect gaming machines that always make the most ideal move every time. Just letting someone else get more points due to inexperience, inattention, or even apathy is not kingmaking, it's just part of gami...

Re: Does the Black Market actually work on BGA?

... The black market only works for one colonist, one good, and one chit. If you are trying to trade two colonists for two purchase power, it wont work. I know this is an old thread but I've got the same problem. It says "-1 doubloon for each 1 VP, good, colonist". And the first reply sai...

Re: BGA stance on players using engines to play games

There is nothing in the terms of service that would prohibit the use of engines, so presumably doing so is entirely allowed. I don't agree. "Cheating software" is prohibited, and using and external engine to choose your moves is certainly cheating and it's software. From the TOS: BGA will...

Re: RAILROAD INK: Drawing off the rails

Can we stop giving the full release to games that have major display issues on some devices? Obviously this was a popular game, but that amount of effort required to actually get it to be fully playable with all details is just crazy. (Alhambra being the other recent one that requires effort I my p...

Re: The "you may take notes" tooltip

This has annoyed me for years. I think there was a suggestion in the bug tracker somewhere, but I can't find it now. I use the notes all the time, and it still pops up, and, as you say, it's in the second worst spot on the screen. Literally anywhere else, besides covering the 'go to next table' butt...
