Re: Fixing Validated Translations

When there is a change in the meaning of the English source text, it should not be changed using the translation system. It should be done in the code, so that it's a new string to translate in all languages to keep the meaning homogeneous for everyone.
Good to know. Though it seems like this happens a lot anyway.
Well, it should not... there is a strong warning not to do this. If it still happens (does it really?), maybe we should disable modifying English strings completely or restrict it to a really few people properly briefed not to be overzealous. But we are still off topic in this thread :)

Please lets get back in this thread to fixing mistakes in validated translations in order not to confuse players reporting such mistakes.

i would suggest theese changes for two Spyrium cards translation. The old ones were somewhat incorrect

Mine:
Ogni volta che il giocatore utilizza la Miniera egli non utilizza un lavoratore. Fine del gioco: il giocatore realizza un punto per ogni cristallo Spyrium posseduto.

Factory:
Ogni volta che il giocatore utilizza un edificio con il simbolo Factory, totalizza un punto in più per ogni lavoratore usato. Fine del gioco: il giocatore totalizza un punteggio pari al numero degli edifici con il simbolo Factory.

Salve.
In Polis, there are at least two accents to modify: in Italian, as in French, the closed accent exists, but many forget it or, regrettably, do not know it at all.

The perché accent must be this way: é.
So:
"non può eseguire un'azione perchè la regione è piena"
"non può eseguire un'azione perchè non ha più risorse"

are wrong..

Further:
"deve pagare 1 risorsa perché tu hai passato il turno"
I would change that "perché" (correctly written, Een ;) ), in "poiché".

More, i would suggest to omologate the word galley.. sometimes is galea, other times is galera. I would opt for galley-galea; galleys-galee. Nicer and more exact in my opinion.

"1 polis di ogni giocatore con popolazione 1 cambia fazione. Il giocatore ricevente decide quale polis prendere. Nè la capitale nè la
stessa polis può essere presa".
Both Nè are decisely wrong. The exact word is né (acute accent).
Thanks!

Salve! Since there are multiple improvements to do, I updated your account so that you can fix validated strings directly. Thanks for your help in improving the Italian translation!

Some mistakes in the german translation of Dungeon Twister:

Code: Select all

${player_name}'s ${character_name} removes a ${typename} illusion
Should be

Code: Select all

${player_name}s ${character_name} entfernt eine ${typename}-Illusion
A hyphen is missing in "${typename}-Illusion".
No apostroph in ${player_name}s ("Deppenapostroph").

Same for the following translations.

Code: Select all

${player_name}'s ${character} escapes the labyrinth and earns ${points} VP
Should be

Code: Select all

${player_name}s ${character} verlässt das Labyrinth und bekommt ${points} Siegpunkte
Note that VP is plural!

Code: Select all

${player_name}'s ${character} steals a ${object}
Should be

Code: Select all

${player_name}'s ${character} stiehlt ein ${object}
Originally "stielt". Comes from "stehlen", not from "Stiel".

Code: Select all

Weapon Master: Opponent player must play and show their Combat card BEFORE the Weapon Master's owner!
That translation doesnt make any sense. Honestly, the english sentence also sounds a bit wired.

Should be smth like

Code: Select all

Waffenmeister: Der gegnerische Spieler muss spielen und seine Kampfkarte zeigen, BEVOR der Besitzer des Waffenmeisters seine Kampfkarte auswählt!

Code: Select all

Some players must place 4 characters on their starting line
Should be

Code: Select all

Es gibt noch Spieler, welche die 4 Figuren in der Startzone platzieren müssen
Figurne -> Figuren

General remark: Shouldn't we use "Siegpunkte" (abbreviated "SP") instead of VP?

PS: I added one translation, not quite sure about that.

Also about Yahtzee:

Code: Select all

Reach 63 points in the first section to earn 35 bonus points.
The translation says 50 instead of 35 points.
