Ode to Off the rails players

Post by Jabberwacky_JimB » 13 September 2020, 15:21

I love this game and I want to thank all who have helped me learn it.
This is for you - to the tune of the Gambler

On a pan-demic evenin'
On board game arena
I met up with some goblins
playin' Off the Rails.
They took turns a-taking
dropped gems from my collisons.
They collected points
from my mistakes.
They said "We've gotten good at mining
And we get high score-ors (scores)
By knowin' what your thoughts are
by the way you lay your track
But if you don't mind us sayin'
You could use some instruction
Help us get more players
and we will give you some advice".
So I listend to their tips,
and how they got high score-ors
studied their moves
and learned some strategy
and my scores they got better
and my game saw some progression.
They said, "IfYou're gonna play the game,
You gotta learn to play it right.
You have to know when to dash
Know when to crash
Know when to get more gems
Know when to run
You never count you missions
If the gems are in you minecart
They can gone in an instant
When the chasms come

Every goblin knows
that the secret to mining
is knowin' when to run away
and knowin' when to crash
Cause every turn's a winner
And every turn's a loser
And the best that you can hope for
is both carts to keep"
And they continue teachin'
the game to new goblins
getting more players
learng this great game.
And somehwere in the mines
the goblins found competition
maybe someday soon we'll have
an arena league
You have to know when to dash
Know when to crash
Know when to get more gems
Know when to run
You never count you missions
If the gems are in you minecart
They can gone in an instant
When the chasms come

I love this game, looked for a place to buy a copy and found a printable version that seemed from the creator, that's crazy, just giving away what I'd pay 50$ for. thanks again, and Jim, now I have an ear worm, "♪you never count your missions♪ "
