If I remember correctly....

Each year everybody gets a certain number of jokers.

When a joker is used, it increases the thinking time of all of their turn-based games by 4 days. I am not sure if it increases it over the normal maximum, though (IE, if one already has 5 days of thinking time in a 1-move per day game, if it will increase it to 9 or not).

These are intended for rare circumstances, such as "I'm going on vacation in a month, but this turn-based game should only take 2 weeks. Oh, wow, it really dragged on. Sorry, folks, gotta postpone it a bit." Not the "Well, this game should take 2 weeks, I'm going on vacation next week, I'll just use a joker and make everyone wait on me."
