113% winrate

Post by Daggerheart »

The player 'gunsung' has 113% winrate in Terra Mystica. Ok, he is no.1 ranked, but still... :-)

Yeah, he seems to be a good player. Maybe better put it into the Terra Mystica Forum though, I, for one, don't want to get a new thread for every different game about good players

I have seen percentages >100% quite often, apparently this is calculated in a way that does not fit well for games with more than 2 players.

Well, it was called hit rate before and people complained about the name. Now they renamed it and people complain that the rate isn't what they think the rate should be. Sometimes you just can't win when managing such a site

Yes, as others pointed out it depends on the number of players involved. The basis is 2 players, if you win every second game there of course you have 50%. From here you can convert the value to multiplayer: For 3 the multiplying factor would be 3/2 (1,5 * 50% = 75%), for 4 2 (100%), for 5 2,5 (125%) and so on. Winning every game means you multiply with 2 again. I like it that way because having 100% wins is quite a difference whether your average group size is 2 or 5. And for these many games that are only possible with 2 players you don't have to translate anything at all.
