We're hiring! (Community manager)

We're looking for a Community Manager for Board Game Arena!

The BGA community is fantastic and is involved in many domains of the service.

Your job is to care about this community of players, to respond to their questions, and to alert the BGA team when there are problems.

Your main mission will be to respond to player's requests in a timely manner on all channels: Contact form, Forums, Social medias, ...

You will also moderate Premium players and manage/animate the moderator team.

Requirements:
  • You are English native speaker.
  • Your location: anywhere in Europe
  • You have excellent writing skills.
  • You have very good diplomatic skills.
  • You are comfortable to work remotely.
  • ... and of course, you play on BGA and know the platform very well :)
And it could be also cool if:
  • You know another language (ideally: French or German).
  • You have basic skills with any graphic manipulation tool.
  • You are regularly helping your parents when they are lost with the technology.
  • You know a lot of board games :)
Some more details:
  • Full-time & permanent position, remote work.
  • Applications from Feb 19th to Feb 28th.
  • Selection & interviews starting March 1st.
  • Salary: depending on profile (see application form).

I could be of use , i know a lot of games , fluent english speaker. I play games here , and in real life ,just need to know the working hours, im up for it 100% :). Good luck to everyone though :) .

If you’re ever looking for a North American based part-or-full timer to help support this position, I’d love to put my hat in the ring. I’ve got 20 years of computer and video game industry experience which I feel would serve BGA well!

Only native english speakers here are in England. No one else has english as a native tongue.

Peoples are not forced to live where they're born.
And bilingual peoples that have English as one of their two native language exist all across Europe.

EDIT: and I almost forgot that there is Ireland and Malta as countries with English as official language.

I'd say with Brexit it would seem less probable. Those people are few in numbers and even less so use this site. Coincidentaly enough, i know people who speak english as a second or third language better than native tongue speakers.

Since you are looking for someone from Europa, i'd have to tell you, you will get close to no application from anywhere but England/UK.

Second of all, i consider my diplomatic skills lacking in relation to the site administration. Yes, i do think i can menage Premium playes and the Moderator team if i am appointed to the job, but...

You know what? I think i would be great for the position because i am willing to do it for free.

Sad to say, english is my second language.

But based on what i see in the questionary all this is null and void. Basically: The questions are too simple. You can't judge a person based on the information we are asked to provide. You won't know if that person is diplomatic and fair. In fact, the only question that stands out is - "d: Is English your native language?"

I do agree. I don't see how a native and only a native English speaker should be hired. What's the advantage? If you're fluent in English, what's the problem? Or what about professional translators, an interpreter... The number of candidates are considerably limited due to this rather strange condition.
