Gift points for thanking a player for playing with beginners

How to get gift points?
For each validated translated string: 1 (Help us translate Board Game Arena!)
Each time a beginner thanks you for playing with him/her their first game on BGA: 3
To incite the community to discover all games, for each first victory at each game: 5

My question is, how are these points awarded? Are they awarded automatically, just for playing with a new player? Or, is there some place a new player should click to make sure the person gets the reward? I am a new player, and ran into a great person to play with. I would like to make sure that they get rewarded, but I saw no way to ensure this.

As a few side questions:
What counts as a new player in this case? My first couple of game didn't go so well, but my third opponent was a great teacher. Who gets the reward?
Is this on a per-game basis? IE, if I've played 1000 games of <GameX>, and then try to learn <NewGameZ>, am I a beginner for <NewGameZ> since I haven't played it, or since I've played a thousand games on the site I'm no longer considered a beginner?

No, in this case... Begginer is "First game in BGA".

To get the +3, the other player must give "Green thumb"

Thanks for the reply. It seems like it should be some other way, but considering how much one *has* to pay for this site... I can put up with a few minor issues.
