I like to play games like backgammon or Senet. However, it would be nice to be able to play Senet with different rules. Because the game is usually very annoying at the end. By the backward rules, it often takes long before a player reaches the exit field. It would be great to play Senet with other rules, or make it more customizable. To decide yourself at which throws a player may move again, or to switch off the backward rules. Perfect would be different rules which can be selected.
The point is there are no 100% right rules for senet, because these were only reconstructed. We must be able to experiment with the game. Another thing is, in my opinion, the best rules were not used here.
Here is a suggestion of how this might look.
1. One way to turn off the backward rule (i dont mean the water field, i mean moving back by throwing the sticks).
2. Turn on and off by which throws a player can move again.
And different sets of rules.
1. The Senate Rules used by BGA
2. The original reconstructed rules.
3. Modern Tuner Rules (if they exist), or a more strategically Variant including the throw sticks.
What do you think about that?
Which rules you prefer when you play on the board?
If you exprinced better rules, or know modern Tuner Rules, please post them.
